Description
The Pittenweem Register was first published on Thursday November 14th 1844. This local newspaper was “not published on a specific day, like a Magazine Newspaper, but will appear now and again, as occasion requires. When any occurrence takes place in our own and surrounding towns, requiring notice, it will then appear. It is intended to publish the births, Marriages and Deaths of the district. It will be free of any charge, given as a wrapper round goods purchased; but any person requiring more copies than one, may have them for One Halfpenny each”.
The Register records the years between 1844 to 1856 and also records news such as Local council matters, the weather and newsworthy events pertaining to the village and surrounding area.
This searchable PDF contains an interesting collection of stories and information and is a very useful tool for those researching their family and local history in the area during this time.
Fife FHS first brought a digitised copy of the Register out on CD and it is now available as a digital download.
